Green Book Cleveland

Green Book Cleveland is a project of the Center for Public History + Digital Humanities at Cleveland State University and Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The project’s goal is to preserve stories of Black leisure and entertainment in Northeast Ohio.

The Green Book guides were published by Victor H. Green between 1936 and 1966 to help Black motorists find courteous service and avoid harassment while traveling.

In the fall of 2023, I contributed research for two locations listed in at least one edition of the Green Book and one Black-owned business in Akron.
